WiHTL Annual Report - 2020 Edition Launch

Diversity in HTL - From Intention to Action

5 February 2020

On the 5th of February 2020, in partnership with The MBS Group and PwC we published the 2020 Edition of the WiHTL Annual Report. The Report, in its 3rd edition, focuses on two key areas of the diversity and inclusion journey: Gender (for the third year) and Race and Ethnicity (for the second year). It explores progress made by companies across the sector both in terms of increasing the percentage of Women and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic employees at senior leadership level as well as making meaningful changes towards creating a diverse and inclusive organisational culture.

In the presence of over 40 CEOs, Chairs and Non Executive Directors we discussed the different and varied perspectives on investing in D&I with the shareholders panel (Aviva Investors, AMP Capital, Apollo Global Management and Hampton-Alexander Review CEO) skillfully chaired by Andrew Ninian from the Investment Association.

The afternoon continued with over 200 industry leaders being inspired by an impressive, authentic and passionate line up of leaders and Real Models. We walked away with so many 'little gems', practical advice and a feeling that together we are making change happen. After a truly inspirational conversation between Lynne Weedall (WiHTL Advisory Board member and NED at William Hill), Emma Woods (CEO wagamama) and Penny Hughes (Chair The Gym Group), the launch ended with an African proverb:

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

"Such a fantastic event which provided significant food for thought and was well worth the investment in time. I feel proud to be able to work for a business which support WiHTL and I am so impressed by the impact it is having on our industry and also on my own career through the mentoring programme."

"It was a very warm and engaging event - the information provided was invaluable and interesting and was delivered in a thought provoking and diverse way. Tea’s ability to make the audience feel personally involved is the icing on the cake"

"Annual Report launches are usually quite dry affairs - how different was the WiHTL one! It was engaging, informative, collaborative, inclusive and diverse. I look forward to attending this and WiHTL events in the future"
