Belle Greene by Alexandra Lapierre

I recommend Belle Greene by Alexandra Lapierre, the true story of Belle Da Costa Greene, an African American woman who passed as white to become J.P. Morgan’s library director in 1900’s America defying racial and social constraints. The author writes novels and biographies about remarkable individuals often forgotten by history, mainly women. I read it over a couple of days and was unable to put the book down. A must read! 

The let them theory by Mel Robbins

I recommend The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, a powerful and practical guide on letting go of control, overthinking and the need to please others. Through simple but impactful mindset shifts, she encourages you to stop trying to manage other people’s behaviour and instead focus on your own energy, boundaries and growth. It’s an easy but thought‑provoking read, full of real-life examples and actionable insights. I found myself reflecting on my own habits and perspective throughout—it really stays with you.

Empireland by Sathnam Sanghera

I would recommend Empireland - How imperialism has shaped modern Britain by Sathnam Sanghera. Sanghera uncovers a forgotten history that is rarely taught in schools about the legacy of the British empire and how it shapes modern society. It is a really accessible read, I have bought it for so many people since I read it a couple of years ago.

Strong Ground by Brené Brown

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

I recommend The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. It’s a story of identical twin sisters who choose different racial identities, and the profound impact those choices have on their sense of identity, belonging, and the lives they go on to build. It was a really thought-provoking read and I couldn’t put it down!
