3rd - 9th February 2025 marks Race Equality Week, an annual UK-wide event founded by Race Equality Matters that encourages organisations and individuals to actively address the challenges impacting race equality in the workplace. The event was first held in 2020 and an increasing number of organisations participate each year.
Race Equality Week urges organisations to consider the barriers often faced by people from underrepresented ethnic groups at work, such as bias, microaggressions and stereotypes, that contribute to unfair disparities in recruitment, representation (particularly in leadership roles) and career development opportunities.
During this week organisations engage in activities, initiatives and discussions focused on fostering understanding, challenging discrimination, and promoting equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds. Activities can include workshops, webinars, panel discussions and cultural events. Many organisations also choose this time to share their progress and future commitments to eliminating racial disparities and discrimination.
The theme for 2025 is '#EveryActionCounts’, we are excited to share the WiHTL & DiR Race & Ethnicity Toolkit, supported by IHG Hotel and Resorts. This comprehensive resource is the result of collaboration with our Race & Ethnicity Committee and other Members of our Collaboration Community who are committed to taking meaningful action on race equality and inclusion within their organisations.
